Leadership
Where are the leaders? Who do you know that is stepping up and leading?
Someone told me the other day how disappointed they were with the religious leaders. There has been no email from their church. No one reaching out to see if they are OK.
There has been nothing emailed to us from our children’s schools, beyond basic information.
In my professional association, the emails are generic, and more often than not neglecting important matters. Other groups and associations I am in have also left me alone.
I’m hearing from people with services they think may be relevant – from the business people.
But where are our community leaders?
The government is doing at least daily live interviews and taking questions – that is leadership.
But that’s about where it appears to be ending. In least at terms of visible leadership.
"The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The leader adjusts the sails.” John Maxwell
Leadership is about providing direction, whether that be aspirational, inspirational and/or practical. It is about being a beacon of trust, an example of how to live and what to do, of providing certainty, stability and flexibility.
It is not an easy task and we are not all born to lead. But we can develop leadership when we forgo our fear of being judged and share with people our knowledge, skills and wisdom.
If you've always thought of yourself as a leader now is the time to step up and really own it.
Where can you use your knowledge, skills and wisdom to provide direction, give hope, inspire, heal, support?
What can you offer that people need (even if they don't know they need it)?
How can you do this? Whether it's within your family, your circle of friends, the community or the wider world?
Look for the opportunities, little and big.
Let go of anything holding you back.
Let go of fear of judgement.
Let go of feeling that you're not good enough
Step into your strengths.
Step into YOUR zone of genius.
Step into your creativity and energy.
Be a beacon of trust
Be an example of how to live
Be YOUR best self.

4 年I wish I could ‘LOVE’ this article Kim! Such a powerful encouragement for leaders to step up rather than step back in a time like this. These are uncertain times that call for leadership more than ever. Thanks so much for sharing this.
