Leadership Is Just B.S.
Leadership is just B.S.
It’s true! Leadership is just basic stuff.
Some people think leadership is complicated. Some think leaders are born, others think they are made. Either way you look at it, leadership doesn’t require much. Leadership is basic: Respect, taking care of others, giving credit, and admitting fault. All characteristics that don’t require years of experience or advanced education. ?
Respect comes in so many forms, it’s too much to list. I’ll sum it up by saying, respect must be given with no expectation of being received.
Taking care of others is also simple. Acts such as letting the car merge in front or holding a door open for strangers are done daily. Taking care of others in the workplace is simple, covering ?a person’s shift so they can take care of a personal issue, letting someone eat their lunch while you cover the phones, giving up your seat in a business meeting so someone else is comfortable. Acts that require little skill but show how our egos can be put aside.
Giving credit is as simple as saying thank you and sharing that praise with others so everyone participates in another person’s success. Giving up the limelight is easy…you just tell others how well your colleague performed or what they did that helped the team.
Lastly, admitting fault. It’s simply acknowledging you have more to learn.
So, when I say leadership is just B.S., I mean it!
