As a business owner, positivity in your organization starts with you. If you don’t have it, you can’t share it and expect your mates and affiliates to don the positive hat. If one observes keenly, pessimism is just an emotional state of mind that erupts out of an unfriendly circumstance that isn’t permanent. The good news is that anyone can change it, and everyone dealing with it, definitely should. History vouches that it’s the optimists, the believers, the dreamers, the doers, and the positive leaders who change the world and leave their foothold on the sands of time. Studies clearly distinguish connection between a positive attitude and success in terms of individuals and organizations. For example, Daniel Goleman’s research demonstrates that positive teams perform at higher levels than negative teams. Positive leaders chase excellence just like Aamir Khan’s character Rancho states in the 2009 hit 3 Idiots. Do not pursue success, pursue excellence. The ship of excellence always leads to success. These positive leaders believe in a brighter future so they take essential actions with excellence to create success. They lift others up in order to accomplish their goals, rather than tear them down. They don’t talk at you—they walk and run with you.


The greatest leaders connect with those they lead. It’s all about that one warm hug, that bucking up attitude, stopping by and lending an ear to challenges of life and being empathetic is what makes one a sublime character. I remember working with one of my previous CEOs who would go to any extent to make his team comfortable and the team would respond positively even in their worst personal life situations. That is the power of connecting well.


Many leaders believe that situations are always not by their side. However, the positive leaders believe that they can steer events and outcomes by the way they think and act. In the times of utmost strife, a true leader builds an optimistic belief through exhaustive analysation of situations, the core of the challenge posed and people’s feeling around them. By focussing on one success at a time, leaders create new realities and renovate the thinking capabilities of the people from within.


One of the biggest traits of an exceptional leader is the kind of communication she/he has. The selection of words, phrases and sentences need to be learnt, unlearnt and relearnt in order to make an eternal impact. The words used must encourage your earning babies and not dishearten them in any which way. A hopeful team helps in spreading positive chatters, new ideas, out-of-the-way implementation of the ideas tossed and build a healthy workplace environment. Recognizing peers in front of others, staying away from any kind of nepotism is the key. These positive traits can transform lives and if the lives are transformed, business wins.
