Leadership: Humility
Humility is said to be the mother of all virtues. It is said to be the most powerful and important attribute of growth; both personal and professional growth. Effective leaders in all sectors are said to be humble. Humility in leaders makes them more trusted, respected, easier to follow and ultimately leads to their being successful.
Humility is the quality of having a modest or low view of one's importance. It is being compassionate, sympathetic, or of generous behavior or disposition. Thomas Aquinas, a 13th-century philosopher and theologian in the Scholastic tradition, defines humility similarly as "the virtue of humility" that "consists in keeping oneself within one's own bounds, not reaching out to things above one, but submitting to one's superior".
