#Leadership

My Ex-Boss didn’t take me along for any meetings for the initial months of joining in one of my previous assignments. We didn’t have much interactions too, a quick good morning, letting him know I will be in office or in field for new client search or building professional #connections were the generic talks. All this while, I did have frequent chats with other team members including the junior’s, admin, HR… but not him…my immediate Manager??.

In an informal discussion, my HR once said to build good relations with your Reporting Manager you need to flatter and butter him.. I replied not my cup of tea, I can praise him when I see his talents and expertise which till date I had?not seen . The HR wasn’t much convinced, but I kept my belief.

The day arrived, I went out for an official meet with my Boss. Earlier that day, my phone rang... it was my Boss, “Gaurav join me for a meeting around noon”. Little anxiety, excitement, and mixed thoughts prevailed. Nevertheless was there as per the schedule. It was a prospective client including 3 senior members in the meeting along with 2 of us present. I have been for such meetings with other experienced professionals from the organisation in last few months and generally the meeting presentation went for 30-40 minutes.

My Boss started the presentation. He was on the first slide, took a bit longer explanation than usual other members. Then came in the second..again it went for a longer duration. Yes, the presentation did not only include the general data but with life experiences & much more to talk about. Asking the clients for any similar past experience of theirs, sharing budgetary guidance , talking about the products & services also the similar & other options available in market with competition & above all with no harsh talks about anyone… we’re the pointers in each and every slide.

This went for the complete presentation and to my surprise a 40 minute general meeting went for 2.5 hours where the client was fully attentive and engaged with 100% satisfaction.

The time came to say a good bye, we greeted and left the meeting with proper understanding of next steps and necessary follow ups.

We came down the lift, I looked at my Boss and said you won my heart today. Now I understood my Boss has all the #talents and #expertise . I need not flatter him but honestly had to praise. He laughed with his wonderful positive gesture. This was the day we were indeed a new set #team and not just #boss and a #junior .

POV … Lucky are those organizations and employees who have such Leaders who let new bees swim self-first to realize the depth of learning to be given . #leaders are not only born they are made too with perfection and guidance from one’s experience. These #leadership qualities amongst people are appreciated not only by management but live in the hearts of many employees.

In this world of corporate politics & hatred there are many such charming people who play a special role in your growth. A big #thankyou to such leaders for not only making others learn the processes of work but also guide to maintain the #worklifebalance .

Trying to spread love and #positivity with my experiences. Together we can and we will.?
