“Your path as a leader depends on the lessons you learn along the way.”
I don’t care who you are, what stage of life you are in, how much you have accomplished, or how much you have left to achieve.
Leadership is for everyone.
I have helped thousands of people become great leaders in the last few years. And I’m always fascinated when I come across someone who believes that they don’t need to invest in their leadership skills.
Sometimes it’s the 20 something child of my colleague who is struggling to gain footing in a new career.
Other times it’s the executive, letting ego drive his interactions.
Some might say the 20 something isn’t mature enough for leadership training. Many might think the executive is beyond it.
Neither are true.
Leadership is for everyone.
The truth is, great leadership is a journey, not a destination.
It needs to challenge you, regardless of your stage in life or career.
If it doesn’t you aren’t reaching your full potential.
So how do you ensure you are challenging yourself in the correct ways to be a great leader?
I’ve learned a lot about leadership in my lifetime. And if your goal is to lead your team, lead your company, lead your family, or just lead yourself through life, then I have 2 areas for you to focus on.
1. Check your ego and your emotions at the door.
Whether you are right or wrong in any interaction or exchange, you MUST check your ego and your emotions at the door.
I see this in all levels of leader, regardless of experience. For example, the 20 year executive forgets to check his own emotions when communicating with a junior employee.?
The result? A disgruntled team member who feels disrespected and will not perform their best.

2. Follow your own guidelines for behavior
Many good leaders have high expectations of those around them. But do they apply those same standards of behavior to themselves?
To be a great leader, you must hold yourself accountable to the standards you have created for others.
Let me give you another example.?
The same 20 year executive, known for his communication skills, takes on a new exciting project for his team. He gets so excited at the prospect of success, he cuts the deadline in half, and changes the project deliverable at the last minute, over text message.
The result? The project is completed, but is sub-par. The executive is disappointed in his team, his team experiences failure, and 1 employee is terminated.
In both of these examples, negative outcomes could have been, and should have been avoided.
While both examples I shared are simplistic, they are also vital to great leadership. And they are behaviors that must be practiced with intention over time.
These are the types of behaviors that great leaders practice over and over and over again, to ensure they can execute flawlessly in daily life.
These are the types of behaviors that are created when you take my course, Ice Cold Leader .?
