Leadership is Energy

Leadership is Energy

Dear Friends,

We are into the second month of the year and have slightly passed the mid of the month. I hope your journey into the new year of 2024 has been smooth and productive so far.

The first three months are always challenging especially for the many working professionals as we need to set, plan and start working towards our goals for the next 12 month.

With this massive load of goal setting and how to attain individual and professional goals a lot of mental energy is required to keep your mental fortitude and emotional infrastructure robust.

I personally believe that leadership is a way of life and if we want to make our life a profound experience then we should lead with immensity of energy.

Why? Everything that we do has an influence, impact and consequence.

Today modern physics and neuroscience has proven that the whole existence is the same energy. The wind and water are the same energy being vastly different in their composition and nature, but their goal is unified – they serve as elixirs to sustain life energies, isn’t it?

Then, leadership can also be equated with being as ENERGY.

If you agree with me on my thoughts, then why does leadership still appear as staid? so fragile? Why do we read that employee - leader issues are still simmering?

In these volatile times when things go wrong with leadership the blame is on the organization, its people, fate, destiny, etc. Instead of looking inwards, some leaders and employees seek solace and comfort in blaming each other.

This is cheap psychiatry. If you want to master the art of leadership (at any level), then you need to understand that when it comes to the outside realities, each one of us has different capabilities as individuals. Just like the five elements that have their individual unique appearance (from the exterior), but when we talk about the 'inner dimension', each one of us here (in the capacity of leaders) have the same capabilities – to create those WOW experiences for our people.

Just like the wind and water that serve the same purpose for us, we as leaders may have varied leadership styles and principles, but we can and must produce those same energies (kindness, listening, empathy, compassion, relations, influence, authenticity, etc.) for a sustainable future for our people, families, and communities.

As leaders if you want to create legacies, then working on your interiority (consciousness shift) and mental faculties are vital areas that need to be more accessed, explored and mastered.

As leaders how are you discovering these dimensions of your inner core?

I look forward to hearing your experiences, reflections and thoughts to see how consciousness is helping you as leaders to reframe and cultivate a renewed your mindset.

Sincerely,

Zavahir Dastoor

Thanks for posting Anyone can be a better leader with passion, energy, and a commitment to growth. I would love to learn about self-mastery (self-awareness is a first step in knowing your self has the strength to keep going up in the mastery). Additionally, with a growth mindset, it would be steps up to the conscious leader at the end.

Zavahir Dastoor you asked why does leadership still appear as staid? so fragile? Why do we read that employee - leader issues are still simmering?" I think we confuse leadership and people management. Just because someone has been promoted to a "leadership" role because of their technical capability, they may not have the skills and knowledge for people management. I gain my closest understanding of how micro-managing happens so frequently when my team at Amazon trained on situational leadership. This customer centric approach reminded me that the same person needs different things depending on the situation. This is a people management skill. A leader may manage people and a people manager is always a leader.
