Leadership

Leadership

Leadership is equally about creating a climate where the truth is heard, and the brutal facts are confronted.

It does not mean coming up with the answers and then motivating everyone to follow your messianic vision.

It means having the humility to grasp the fact that you do not yet understand enough to have the answers and then to ask the questions that will lead to the best possible insights.

The value that a leader brings to an organization in a crisis is that they are able to take a vision and turn it into an executable plan.

The biggest competitive advantage for your organization is long-term thinking with a broad view of how different systems in the world are going to come together.

One of the notable aspects of compound growth is that the furthest out years are the most important. In a world where almost no one takes a truly long-term view, the market richly rewards those who do.

As the Leader, you can create magic if you find or create the intersection between working on a really big opportunity and working with a great team.?

“A” players want to work with and be around “A” players.?

ARE YOU A TUGBOAT OR LIGHTHOUSE?

There are two ways to approach life, athletics, or business.?You can try go out “like a tugboat” and try to fix people and pull them along.?

Or you can be a “lighthouse” and simply stand in one place, shining your light, helping and offering guidance and influence that way.?

Lighthouses are the most effective when the sky is darkest and the storm is raging.

IN ORDER TO BE GREAT ... YOU WILL NEED HELP

No matter what your current role in your career there will come a time when you need the help of others to reach peak levels...

...if you aren't seriously developing your interpersonal, management & leadership skills at THIS VERY MOMENT...you are severely limiting the kind of progress you will be able to make in life.

You will always work for another.

You will never run a truly successful business.

If you do find yourself working for a successful company you will always be in low value (low income) positions.

You will be a cog.

Lots of people think great leaders are born.

That is false.

Leadership is a skill as well as an art.

You can learn the skills from a book.

But you can only learn the art through experience.

Which means you have to act before you feel ready.

That’s really something to think about isn't it?

In order to become a great leader you have to lead before you feel ready & qualified to lead.

That scares you doesn’t it?

It’s supposed to.

Being a great leader is a battle externally, and even more so, internally.

So no, great leaders are not born.

That's just the justification people who aren't willing to learn the skills of leadership and endure the mastering of the art of leadership make.

Great teams are not accidentally formed.

Great culture doesn't happen by luck.

People who win consistently are not lucky.

These aspects that are a necessity of a winning TEAM in sports or business ARE MADE.

The question becomes...

What are you doing to become a more effective leader?

Or

...are you just willing to make less money?

Or are you too scared to step up and be what you know you could be?

Big Hint: None of the “Ors” will get you anywhere but where you are now.

We Can All Do Better

Real leaders need to start leading…

…and by leading I mean living to their own standards.

That means not only just living it … but advertising it so others hold a high standard as well.

Start with yourself.

How can you be better?

What are your weak points?

Where can you improve?

All of us have weaknesses, flaws, faults, and areas we can improve.

People are watching.

Your example matters.

Where can you get better?

Be the example you wish you had.

Be the leader you wish you had.

Be the parent you wish you had.

Teach what you wish you had known.

That's how shit will change.

People who want you to succeed will set standards for you and hold you accountable to them.?

Motivating others is far more about avoiding de-motivating others than making somebody do something they fundamentally do not want to do.
