Leadership Corner | PatientPing & Appriss Health Celebrate One Year Since the Two Companies Became One
By Rob Cohen, Chief Executive Officer at Bamboo Health
This week, we gathered in-person with our teammates in Boston and Louisville, and virtually all over the United States, Poland, and Canada to celebrate not only the opening of our Boston office, but one year since PatientPing and Appriss Health became one company. In the Boston office, we had a full house, and it truly felt like workdays before the pandemic. It was a wonderful experience to be able to collaborate and “meet” so many teammates in person for the first time.
If we rewind just over a year ago, we had two separate companies – PatientPing and Appriss Health. Jay Desai was the founder and chief executive officer at PatientPing, and I was the president of Appriss Health. Through years of getting to know each other, the complementary nature of our businesses was clear, and the time to bring our companies together had come.
Once that combination became a reality, we quickly came to the conclusion that the first thing we needed to transform was our brand; Bamboo Health was born. Bamboo is strong, resilient, and grows quickly. That’s who we are and who we continue to aspire to be. We’re fast growing and have already seen the major impacts our work can have on healthcare and the improvement of whole person care across the U.S.
Since the acquisition and rebrand to Bamboo Health, we’ve reached significant teammate-focused milestones we set for ourselves.

·??????Grew our workforce – Within a year, we grew our collective workforce by over 50%, hiring employees remotely in the U.S., Poland, and Canada. Today, more than 123 teammates are based in Louisville, and one-fifth of our teammates live in the Boston area.
?·??????Promoted and developed internal teammates – Over the last year we’ve promoted 20% of our employees. We’re making Bamboo Health a place where people can grow their careers. This also means that we’ve hired the right talent and the right people for the job. Our teammates are doing the type of work that contributes to the company and warrants promotion.
·??????Determined and introduced our values – Standing up our company values was a collaborative process that took time because we believed they should guide our work. Our values – grit, ownership, boldness, humility, and care – embody us. We want to be bold; we want to take the right risks. We find a way to accomplish our goals and we’ll continue to find a way.
As we reflect on our one-year celebration, I’m not only humbled by the value we provide for our customers and their patients but inspired by our teammates’ grit and success. I hope our teammates find Bamboo to be a place where they can and want to grow their careers, and I hope the work we do and the culture we continue to build gives them a reason to stay at Bamboo Health for years to come.
