Understanding how to navigate complex and intense sensations can be a powerful tool for executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs...

To determine their potential for growth and success!

These insights are not just theoretical, but practical tools for personal and leadership development in the ever-changing landscape of dynamic business environments.

EMBODIED SENSATIONS

Stress responses, emotions, pain, and fatigue are all embodied sensations, meaning they have physical and psychological components.?

For example...

? When executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs are at the end of a draining physical activity, during a competition, they feel the pain in their bodies and the racing thoughts in their minds.

? When coming out of a meeting after hours of complex business negotiations, they feel either emotionally excited or drained, accompanied by the corresponding thoughts.

One always comes with the other!

STRESS RESPONSES

Stress responses have a physical signature, like elevated heart rate and increased muscular tension, and impact how the brain thinks and processes information.

Each emotion has a specific physical signature and behavioural and mental impulses!

To cope with these impulses, executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs have two primary options:

? They can better identify, manage, and respond to them.

? Or, they can improve their ability to ignore or blunt them.?

The first path, actively managing their experience without numbing or running away, leads to much better outcomes in the long run because executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs are learning to work with and manage their natural responses.?

The second path, passively dealing with life's difficulties, can work in the short term but always leads to long-term problems for executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs. Numbing or ignoring might work in specific contexts, but rarely translate to their complex lives.

Over time, this can lead to a lack of self-awareness, poor decision-making, and strained relationships, all of which can hinder their personal and leadership growth.?

SELF-AWARENESS

Self-awareness is not just a buzzword but a crucial element for executives and leaders!

Therefore, they need to consider:

? That high pain or fatigue tolerance doesn't mean we don't feel things - it's the opposite, but that they can tolerate without running away.

Executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs must differentiate between a red light (stop; the real damage is occurring), a yellow light (proceed with caution), and a green light (this might hurt, but no damage is occurring) activity.?

? Also, executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs must know that high emotional intelligence does not mean ignoring one's emotions.

Instead, it's about identifying, working with, and utilising them to facilitate their behaviour, navigate social situations, and create better relationships.?

? The high skill in managing stress responses requires executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs to learn to identify and regulate them to work with their natural responses.

Mainly to create the right degree and intensity of response based on the demands of the situation.?

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCY

As an integral part of exemplary leadership...

Competency requires feeling, accepting, and working with embodied sensations like stress responses, emotions, pain, and fatigue!

This insight means that the more executives, leaders, and entrepreneurs learn to feel and respect what their bodies tell them...

The better they can navigate and manage even the most complex and intense moments!
