Leadership Communication Guide Chapter 6: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Leadership Communication Guide Chapter 6: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Mindset Matters is based on the premise that your mindset is the biggest factor in determining personal and professional success and happiness.

The 3 R’s will challenge you to slow down to reflect, recognize choices, and respond with the right actions. We hope you leverage this leadership communication guide as an invaluable resource.

Reflect

When employees quit, leaders typically respond in one of three ways:

1.? "I had no idea. This came as a surprise."

2.? "I had a feeling it was coming. I should've known."

3.? "It's not surprising, and in hindsight, it might be a blessing."

Are you sure you have the right people in the right roles?

Recognize

If you or any members of your leadership team had a sense or even knew something was off, why didn't you act earlier? What held you back from addressing it sooner?

Respond

Respond by using our stay interview template. While exit interviews may help your leadership understand why people leave, stay interviews provide valuable insight on why team members choose to stay.

In most industries, replacing any employee (with at least six months experience) will cost at least ten thousand dollars (hiring, checking, lost revenue, training, etc.). The price increases almost exponentially when you're replacing a seasoned employee with significant experience. The choice is clear... recognize and respond.
