Leadership change or Transformation

Leadership change or Transformation

Dear Friends,

Hope the first month of the new year has ended on a salubrious note and that you are working diligently and joyfully towards your goals with deep reflections and consciousness.

Lets read a short story. One day two caterpillars are talking, and they see a beautiful butterfly hovering above. One says to the other, "I can never be like one of those (butterfly) because my mother is a moth." Think here on this statement. Perceptions and sensitivity of perceptions can create a very debilitating self-limiting belief of transforming yourself. You are only stuck to "changing" because you think that you know the answer.

As leaders and individuals, we all want to see ourselves transforming from our present condition to a different and a new dimension of performance.

Most people aim to change which is ineffective because in the process of change, you tend to still resorb the remnants of your original tendencies.

While in transformation there is nothing remaining of you when you emerge and evolve as a new entity.

Leadership without transformation is empty. Transformation is about reaching unlimited potential creating a trajectory but not a peak.

If you agree with me that leadership is a way of life, then today’s questions to reflect for leaders:

Does leadership happen as me?

Does leadership happen through me?

Do I make leadership happen the way I want it?

During the pandemic, leadership energies appeared to be staid and there was not enough momentum, why? because leaders were, and still are still operating in compulsive cycles of old processes, mindsets, beliefs, and behaviours which are not serving the core purpose anymore.

When you lead, you lead taking in-charge of your mind, body, emotions, and your life energies as instruments of function that enable you to work at an optimum. Unfortunately, the instruments of function that drive your inner technology’ (consciousness) when poorly managed, become an impediment to lead your people.

This compulsion of the thoughts, emotions and the body only make you see the gloom and the doom but does not drive you to be a part of the solution.

Why are leaders leading with compulsive instincts??

A little deep dive helps here: The nature of physical existence in the universe is such that everything which is in the physical state is in cyclical movements (atoms, galaxies, solar systems physiology etc.), in fact we are born out the cycles in our mothers’ bodies isn’t it?

The entire physical nature is born out of compulsiveness, however taking a flip view, do not misunderstand compulsiveness (repetition) as something bad. It is the basis of your existence. Compulsiveness is a good platform, but as individuals and leaders, you are required to stand on the platform and ACT.

Sadly, some leaders have become the platform themselves drawing only conclusions and judgements. Remember that when you draw conclusions it is ‘death’ of the situation, the problem and your relationship with the person. People call these big judgements as knowledge.

This is not knowledge but unconscious thinking. Unconscious thinking stems from the physical gathering (accumulation of impressions, titles, designations, pride, vanity etc.) which simply puts you down.

You are carrying a big heap, which is yourself. With a mental structure one can amass phenomenal things – the less YOU become, the more receptive you are. Bringing the right framework of self-awareness, consciousness, an ‘emotional infrastructure’ (EQ) constitutes a powerful tool to make you lead with intelligence and build authentic goodwill for your people.

Remember that leadership thrives in its involvement and not in its existence.

I look forward to hearing your experiences of change or transformation and what has helped you to reach a new dimension of existence.

Until we meet the next time, stay blessed and work more to rev-up your 'inner core.'

Sincerely,

Zavahir Dastoor

True knowledge involves conscious thinking, free from the weight of accumulated impressions and titles. A leader's strength lies in self-awareness, consciousness, and emotional intelligence, fostering intelligent leadership and authentic goodwill.

Thank you for the thought-provoking message. It's crucial to distinguish between unconscious thinking and true knowledge. Building self-awareness leads to transformative leadership. Looking forward to more insights.
