Leadership Challenge: Breaking Through The Clouds

Leadership Challenge: Breaking Through The Clouds

Struggle...

The struggle is real and affects everyone in one way or the other. As we approach the end of the year, more pressure to meet high quotas and expectations is not a good place to be if you are already struggling.

But more significant issues are who knows about it and what steps are taken to improve the situation.

Sadly, many people have reached the threshold of their emotional, mental, financial and physical capacity and are struggling internally.

During my extensive conversations with a wide range of leaders, it is astonishing (or not) how many are experiencing the same reactions, stressors, issues or concerns as they are dealing with health, career, people, relationships, financial and/or work concerns.

The best part, we are not the only ones in these struggles. The more we normalize them and accept them as a part of the current landscape in business and life we can make a much-needed change.

Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear hardship today. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh.

Here are some of the most common breakthroughs that came to light as a result of these powerful transformational conversations that may give you comfort and a new path forward:

  • We don't need to know all answers every time
  • We don't have to hold the world's weight on our shoulders
  • We are not responsible for the behavior of others
  • We don't have to say "YES" to every "High Priority."
  • We don't have to do everything NOW
  • We don't have to hide how we feel
  • We don't have to downplay issues or concerns
  • We don't have to accept poor behavior
  • We don't have to do everything alone

Just to name a few.

Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it. ~ Helen Keller.

Through this process, we all get reminded how important it is to be clear on our:

Identity (who we are): What we think we are vs. how we are perceived and what we can do to adjust or change. For many, the title and position they hold are their identities. But we must recognize the human factor, especially in leading roles. Human-centric Leadership is a cure for a plethora of issues we are facing.

Capacity (our ability): What we think we can do by pushing our limits and how much we can change how we lead to developing more effective ways to get results. But this is also an essential measure of our internal threshold of how much we can take on without burnout. Resilience-centric leadership is a must in every organization and situation! A game-changer is the best ability to sustain our energy level under pressure and cope with disruptive changes while we adapt.

Efficacy (what we do): What we do daily to be influential leaders heavily depends on how well we work with others, especially those challenging personalities and people that make us uncomfortable. It also depends on how much we support and listen to others as we make needed changes or important decisions by learning and adjusting when dealing with challenges. Adaptive Leadership will get us not only to survive but to thrive.

Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws. ~ Plato

It is clear that we must surround ourselves with good people who share our values, vision and standards. Being surrounded by good people who create safety for others is excellent, especially in today's professional setting. We need to be with people that make us feel accepted as whom we are and respected. People that are a joy to be around, work with, and learn from. Because those people make hard days much easier through their ongoing support, genuine care and valuable advice.

People we surround ourselves with are a reflection of us! ~ Izabela Lundberg

Those people, whether they know it or not, create a powerful legacy while leading by example. The world needs more than ever those types of people. Let us be those people, Champions!

Live, lead, and leave your legacy today and every day! ~ Izabela Lundberg
