  1. If LaRae Quy had a fan club, I would run for president. Her articles always educate, inspire, and offer a much-needed dose of the hard reality of succeeding in our world. Great, important piece: Six Effective Ways to Grow as a Leader Without Getting Burned Out. Personal observation: as the pendulum of power has swung back in the direction of employers, the strain I'm hearing from clients is growing. Didn't we learn anything about burnout and how to prevent it in the last few years??
  2. Managing oneself is a critical issue in our challenging communication moments. Diana Peterson-More does a masterful job sharing guidance for us in The Power of Neutral Language—Time to Think First and Communicate Second.?
  3. I love Terri Klass's perspective in: Are You Leading with Curiosity or Control? Your genuine curiosity as a leader is a powerful attribute for success in today's world. Terri's thoughts pair nicely with my post, The Curious Case of Translating Curiosity into Action.
  4. This is uncomfortable, slightly scary, and really interesting. How Algorithms Keep Workers Under Their Control by Hatim Rahman via Kellogg Insight. (His book is Inside the Invisible Cage—How Algorithms Control Workers.)This is an expert from Rahman's latest book, and the line that captured my attention was, "This often happens with little transparency, leaving guessing how they are rated."?
  5. A must-read for every leader working on guiding a culture change in their organization is?What Leadership Needs to Know About Changing Organizational Culture?by Thomas R. Kruse,?via Michael McKinney's Leading Blog.?

Book I'm Reading on my Summer Vaction: The Passage of Power (The Years of Lyndon Johnson) by Robert A. Caro. Caro's study of Johnson runs to four volumes now, with a promised but seemingly unlikely fifth volume. While not really that interested in LBJ, I admire Caro as a great writer/biographer and someone who does a tremendous job showcasing how one person cultivated and deployed power and ultimately failed. The 60's were consequential in the U.S. much like the 20's are in our current reality. It's fascinating to compare/contrast the eras and people.
