  1. Personal Reflection Read-of-the-Week: We won't be happy WHEN. We could be happy NOW. I'm always a little happier reading a fabulous, research-backed piece that moves me to think from Ed Batista. Journal is mandatory. Come prepared with the right beverage to think deeply.
  2. From the research of Benjamin Friedrich shared at Kellogg Insight: Can Your Company Do Hybrid Better? ?I love the theme of finding a way for both employees and the company to thrive with the right approach.?
  3. Management-Read-of-the-Week via the report at strategy+business by PwC: From Sludge to Success. While earmarked for CEOs, every leader regardless of level can help get the sludge out.?
  4. From Terri Klass: Six Ways Leaders Can Develop Grit . My personal prescription for finding how much grit you have is to stare down and succeed in an existential organizational situation. Terri's ideas are a bit softer and great.?
  5. Love this article from Dr. David Burkus: Do We Really Need Managers? My favorite lines: "A manager should be a leader. Plain and simple." This article pairs wonderfully with my article at SmartBrief on Leadership: Dump the leader versus manager debate—try a blended role.

What I Read and Loved:?I'm preparing for a series of corporate workshops on succeeding with challenging conversations and workplace confrontations, and two new books are just fabulous resources. The first, Powerful Phrases for Dealing with Workplace Conflict by Karin Hurt and David Dye, is a treasure trove of great guidance and phrases for destressing challenging communication situations. The second, Supercommunicators by Charles Duhigg, is another great resource offering a practical, powerful framework for strengthening as a communicator. These are two outstanding resources worth adding to your professional library!?
