Leadership of B20 Brasil attends G20 sherpas meeting in Rio de Janeiro

From July 3rd to 5th, Rio de Janeiro hosted the third meeting of G20 sherpas. The event included a groundbreaking session where representatives from 13 engagement groups presented their proposals for the G20. Coordinated by Brazilian Ambassador and Sherpa Mauricio Carvalho Lyrio from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the meeting included representatives from 29 countries and13 international organizations. This meeting is part of Brasil's G20 Social initiative that seeks to increase the dialogue with civil society along the G20 process. ??

B20 Brasil presented its main?recommendations from its seven task forces and one action council. Dan Ioschpe and Constanza Negri Biasutti , Chair and Sherpa of B20 Brasil, were present. In his presentation, the B20 Chair highlighted the theme: “Inclusive Growth for a Sustainable Future,” which aligns with the G20's focus on social inclusion, sustainable development, and the reform of global governance institutions.?

The B20 Chair explained how the B20's work is guided by five principles that shaped the recommendations of the task forces: promoting inclusive growth, accelerating a fair net-zero transition, increasing productivity through innovations, fostering the resilience of global value chains, and enhancing human capital.?

"The B20's recommendations address crucial areas, including transforming global food systems to enhance productivity and sustainability, accelerating energy transitions to meet decarbonization goals, while ensuring no one is left behind,” said Dan Ioschpe.“Our recommendations also focus on securing necessary financing for these transitions, aiming to implement innovative instruments that mobilize private capital,” he added.?

For Constanza Negri, B20 Sherpa, the meeting represented a significant milestone in the secretariat's work. “This meeting provided an opportunity to leverage the outcome of the B20 Brasil process, structured to secure actionable and measurable recommendations that contribute to the G20 presidency priorities,” she emphasized. The Sherpa also highlighted the importance of ongoing engagement with the G20 in preparation for the summit, underscoring the solid foundation provided by the B20's recommendations for future discussions and actions.?? ?
