Leadership 7.0 ~The Executive Philanthropist (Part 1)

**This is part one of a new series on Leadership, now with an emphasis on philanthropy. The previous series was on Leadership for How To Navigate The New Normal, which you can begin to read here. Both series work in conjunction with each other so there will be references to earlier used concepts and ideas.**

Welcome!

Welcome!

Not only are we entering a new era…

We’re also retrieving ancient wisdom for future use.

This means that our days and age in this decade contrive a cosmic hinge-point that sets the stage for humanity’s destiny into infinity.

That’s quite the position to be in…

Yet simply put, we’re thus becoming one again within a newly ordered balance.

That is, a new balance between what worked well and could still serve us onward, together with yet unknown insights for greater benevolence and sustainable modes of living.

Busy world.

But in our busy bust-up world today, such a perspective may seem a bit vague.

After all, most leaders are mostly concerned with keeping their company afloat, while re-organizing their organization to navigate the new normal.

Then, such a reflective mode on the brighter future to be may indeed seem to be something that’s better left to armchair philosophy.

Yet it’s the philosophy of an organization’s leadership that’s decisive for the course of action. And this means much more than just having a vision or mission statement as a plaque somewhere on a wall.

It means ‘the perfection of excellence by habit’. (Also see this article for a slightly more elaborate approach to this premise.)

What then would be a balanced leadership philosophy for the perfection of excellence by habit?

This could be a renewed philosophy of philanthropy, one that supports the leader to become an ‘executive philanthropist’.

"Philosophy as 'The Love for Wisdom' translates into an attitude of Philanthropy - Love for Humankind.
With Leadership Mastermind Philosophy this can be turned into a practical and productive code of conduct that works for the greater benefit of all."
-MvS-
Brain-Heart Balance.

This new article series will explore several concepts and ideas to give shape to the contours of how the executive philanthropist can put this philosophy into practice.

Because based on my research, contemporary philanthropy is apparently facing a crisis. And that crisis shows itself in these main problems:

  • On the one hand, most philanthropy is still run from the dynamics of ‘old’ colonial economics, which only perpetuates that which it tries to reduce, while…
  • On the other hand the ‘new’ societal demands ask for substantial systemic paradigm shifts, but those shifts are obstructed by lack of clarity or readiness by either benefactors or beneficiaries, because…
  • Communication of vision and cause is becoming more and more troubled due to the blur and blitz of conflicting messages everywhere, because...
  • Conscious new capital creation and distribution seems to be necessary, yet unsupported currencies seem to spin out of control with potential malevolent consequences lurking all around, hence…
  • The allocation of funds, grants and investments needs to become more interwoven in an increasingly complex ecosystem of wealth, one that actually alleviates suffering while stimulating thriving at the same time, yet...
  • The new leadership necessary for these challenging times is often criticized and debated to death even before it had a chance to show itself as worthy in its workings…

Golden Justice.

And thus we’ll dive deeper into potential solutions for these issues in the following articles in this series, so the notion of ‘the executive philanthropist’ can begin to take shape in the daily practice of perfecting excellence by habit.

Not an easy task.

But a necessary one. And it’s beautiful in its scope.

I thus invite you to join me on this new thought expedition (also check this page). And you’re welcome to share your wisdom and insights in the comments below, to also contribute to a new level of benevolence for humankind.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Maurits van Sambeek, MA.
