2 个月Interesting read Adrian Close. I have always thought about how being a supportive, caring boss can get the best out of individuals. However, what is raised here about "fearing" your boss, does resonate with me somewhat. I had a great boss who I definitely admired, one that I often refer to when I am delivering leadership training. She was not to be feared in a bad way, but I definitely would have feared letting her down, disappointing her, missing a deadline and how she would have reacted to this. So, this definitely spurred me on to be the very best I could be for her, in my role.

2 个月Feared or Loved, rather be the leader who is so respected that everyone shows up giving their best because the leader values and believes in you. A leader who is interested and engaged, knows when to challenge or direct or support in equal measure.
