Leaders Read#9

?? Hello everyone,

I'm finally back from almost two weeks in Las Vegas; let me just say that city is not for me. But, I've had a wonderful weekend with the family and am recharged for a great week ahead. I wish everyone who celebrates a wonderful Thanksgiving ??.

?? Book Summary:

This week's book is "Success Made Simple" by Erik Wesner

You should read this book if you are looking for a book that shows how the Amish think of business. The Amish are respected for their craftsmanship, and a mystique exists around their success. This book is a series of interviews of Amish business owners, collecting their insights on how they run their businesses.

One of my favorite take away from the book is this:

"If the business goes down in flames, no one remembers all the nice messages over the intercom. It doesn't matter that you scraped ice off the wings, served drinks, and checked the landing gear while it plummeted. The business is dead. No one cares. Delegation is what you should have been doing instead. The hard part of letting go of a piece of something you've invested so much in."

? Actionable advice:

True, as a leader, you are responsible for the culture and well-being of your team. But, it is essential to remember that there is a mission with a goal, and if you fail, if you don't do your job and the team fails the mission— there might not be a business left to pay everybody's mortgages.

?? 5 things I’m thinking about (November 17, 2023)

1.Platform, Cloud, and Autodesk University

2.Learnings from Autodesk Leadership Program.

3.Don't critique the person, critique the behaviors.

4.How to get better feedback from the team.

5.Learning a lot about Autodesk Platform Services.

Reading "The Armed Forces Officer" by Dept. of Defense.

Read on, and have a great week!
