Leaders Make Hard Decisions in a Mean World
Johnny Walker
My time being a blue-collar family member and worker has taught me to work with less and expect more. I will always strive for excellence and encourage everyone’s inner greatness.
Many times, people hold thankless positions, especially leaders. If you have to tell someone no or give them the bad news, you may just be considered the bad person instead of just the messenger. The world is hard, and no one really challenges that statement other than bringing up the niceties that are in this hard world sometimes. We may never know the reason why, but sometimes, the world just turns, and we have to accept it.
Leaders often have no one to look up to and may have to turn to themselves. Of course, leaders may have counsel, but ultimately, it's on their plate, and if the decision is wrong, it's their fault. We can continue to criticize and blame our leaders if they are doing a poor job, but are we really looking at the facts? Some leaders may be the greatest we've ever seen, while others are criminals, but ultimately, they make the hard decisions in a mean world. Some slack can be given for the tremendous weight put upon leaders, even if they are ineffective. However, a competent and caring leader will always take it on the chin and live with greater consequences for their "mistakes." If your leader is not doing this, what is stopping you from doing it?
Well, that's my spiel for today…
