Leaders Are Made, Not Born. Your ability to negotiate, communicate, influence, and persuade others to do things is absolutely indispensable to everything you accomplish in life. – Brian Tracy
We strive in our everyday lives to be great leaders thus unleash the potential within ourselves to be the best in whatever we lay our hands on; possessing a Midas touch. Many, in fact, most future leaders are far from fully formed thus cannot be expected to step up to task straight away. While this might seem like a negative, it is most certainly not. Most leaders (great leaders) need to learn how to lead; they are grown, not born.
We will only grow into tomorrow’s leaders if we create the opportunity to learn how to be a great leader. One crucial aspect is to understand the behaviours that great leaders use to engage their people, and it is vital to develop the self-awareness to know when and how to effectively deploy those behaviours.
Embarking on this journey to becoming a great leader will call for a robust discipline and learning to enable you to blossom and flourish as a great leader. Learnings here can be drawn from your work experience (i.e. make your job more challenging), relationships (i.e. through feedbacks, role models, coaches and mentors) and acquiring technical skills (i.e. through personal learning and courses/readings).
