July 2024 Update
Leaders Look Within in 2024
This verse has my attention:
“The spiritually hungry are always ready to learn more, for their hearts are eager to discover new truths.” Proverbs 18:15 TPT
I am finding myself speaking more with faith, knowing I don’t know what will happen. My heart is eager to discover what God has in store, and I am relying more on Him and less on my own thinking and reasoning.
As part of this hunger, I am getting more and more in tune with the theme of the next book I am writing, which focuses more on transitioning my time and energy from reflecting to taking action. Being actionable puts things in motion to see results.
..our hearts eager to discover new truths…Proverbs 18:15
What am I seeing right now?
I see many of my friends with whom I stay connected, rolling up their sleeves and moving forward with new goals and execution. For me, the past couple of years, I have been holding back a bit, thinking the bottom will fall out or the economy will take off. In both situations, I was not willing to go all in. I found I was letting my circumstances shape me, and I am moving the bar over to believing more in myself, our people, faith, and trust in God!
I am continuing to develop that leadership muscle, lead with values, and hold tight to the overall vision I want to achieve. I have seen success in setting new goals, and it has helped me in all areas of my life. I have some major projects I am working on at work, and I am more determined than ever to see things through. I have come to the conclusion that I need to lead a life with an ambitious heart and push the bar more and more. As I do this, I am seeing success. I had no idea that my subconscious was holding me back so much. We put
My workouts have helped me see the value in continually working to create a new mind, body, and strength experience. I am activating muscles that have not been activated in years and seeing the progress of those results: balance, turning fat to muscle, less tightness in back and hips, more flexibility, and deeper breathing.
The obstacles I am seeing and facing.
It is critical to continually work on bringing our best selves to the discussion. There is so much misinformation these days. Costs are all over the place, and the justifications people communicate for higher prices are also wildly crazy and often have little or no basis. People are going into protection mode faster than ever. For me, it means challenge, and I am learning more about the products and services I am looking at discussing and buying.
I am also seeing cuts made in customer service at many companies. Many companies I read about believe technology, specifically bot technology or AI, can replace a human voice. Always know you have options, and if client service is not a priority for a particular company, this should be a red flag that other issues may also be happening at this company.
When these issues and others arise, I am getting into a habit of writing them down in my journal and reflecting on whether I should spend more time on them or look at other options. By taking the time to write these issues down, I take the power out of the issue and do not spend my time thinking about it too much.
I also see and hear less about teams and more about individual efforts. I believe that a team is important, whether we are at home or work. When new technologies are introduced in the market, the focus quickly goes to individuals, but those who lead know that team trumps individuals and is more sustainable through uncertain times. When looking at issues, I always look at who is affected and consider what is best for the whole versus a few individuals. Continue to build awareness through uncertain times; the learning is incredible. ?

4 个月Indeed Brent P., Proverbs 18.15 teaches us that a discerning (Hebrew bin - "prudent") character (Hebrew leb - "heart") is a learning character. Truly, learning and thus growth is a trait of the wise ("...ear of the wise seeks knowledge"). What better truth for us to seek than the eternal precepts of Proverbs?
