Leaders Look Within
Today I am writing to you with a lot of excitement that has been building for the last two years.
I’ve had quite a professional career that has helped form and shape me and the way I lead. I have read a number of management and leadership books over my career.?I’ve had the opportunity to work at some great companies. With each book and career stop, I have been able to take a particular piece or example and apply it to some part of my life.
I came back to Midwest Laboratories in 2005 and looked forward to continuing to grow at a great company. In 2016, I had the opportunity to work directly with my father, Ken Pohlman and see how working together to lead a company would look. It was also during this time from 2016-2023 that I learned who I truly was and how and why I wanted to lead.
I noted all kinds of leadership themes during this time. ?I dug deeper and looked more and more inside my heart and ?I discovered so much about myself and I jotted down things I needed to work on to make sure my heart was in the proper place to move forward.?Many times in my life I would analyze so much and the speed of learning and growing at a rapid rate was constant.
As I put the book together, I noticed myself putting pieces together that I had never thought of. I discovered my why with the help of some great people and I really began to see myself in a whole new light. This process of discovering more about myself and working on me led me to the person I am and where I wanted to go.
“ I am a Person of Faith who Coaches People Up and Leads from the Heart”
I had found my heart of gratitude through faith, to own myself, (mind, body, soul and strength) to effectively put people first, and lead from the heart.
Two years ago, I started down the journey of writing a book.?Leaders Look Within
The book, gives you, the reader a perspective of where I have come from over the past few years and how it is critical that as a leader, we bring our “A” game to our work and families every day.
The past few years have been a total transformation of who I am and I am excited to share some examples that have helped me fully embrace myself as a leader and the amazing people who’ve been a part of this transformation. My wife, Michele has been a catalyst and huge support through this process. She is the one who helped me truly take control of writing this book and “own it” to get the message out with a positive, encouraging message.
As I discovered more, it was apparent to me that I needed to do the following.

·?????unlock my heart and put things in perspective to move forward and
·?????look at self-care and what is needed to move forward
