Megan Bell likes to tell people she got into insurance for the view—but stayed because of the opportunities.??
A communications professional with a background in consumer packaged goods, Megan initially pursued a job with Falvey Insurance Group because she loved the company’s location—a Rhode Island oceanside building with amazing views. She had worked there once for a previous employer. But she found a career at Falvey that went far beyond her horizon of expectations.?
Today, Megan is Senior Vice President of Marketing at Falvey, where she heads up marketing, communications, and customer experience initiatives. Named one of Insurance Business America ’s Elite Women in 2022, Megan created the Women at the Helm speaker series, which inspired the award-nominated InsHER podcast that she now produces.?
DBH Consulting asked Megan to share her leadership journey and experiences in the insurance arena. For Megan, leadership is about authenticity—staying true to yourself and being willing to put yourself out there. For women in particular, she says, strategic networking is key. So is taking initiative on behalf of your future.?
“Don’t wait for someone to call on you,” she says. “If there’s a position you want and have a passion for, don’t wait for someone to tap you on the shoulder. Speak up, or the opportunity might miss you.”
