Leaders Add Value

Position Yourself to add Value

It is a brand-new week in a new month, I hope it is well with you. I also hope it is well with your family career and of course your soul. I love August because it is the month for you to arise and shine as you display the goodness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

My prayer is that this becomes your best week ever. In order for that to happen, you need to communicate with a view to adding value to the lives of those around you. However today l want to help you add value to your leader. Here are some tips for you to be able to do so.

1. Empathize with your leader and realize that they have a bigger burden than yours. Leaders carry the biggest burden you can ever imagine. If a leader leads ten people, it means he carries the burden of ten people. Similarly, if they lead a hundred people, their shoulders burden the responsibilities of a hundred people. So, you need to have a lot of empathy for your leader because you are also their burden. A part of empathy should be your willingness to help them carry a lighter burden.

2. Be excellent in doing your principal assignment so that you create time to genuinely reach out to them. Most people love to act helpful toward their leaders, yet their own baskets are overflowing from ancient loads of unaddressed workloads. Showing up at the boss’s office in order to earn a cheap shot will not do your world any good. Never ask to help when you are sinking in your own work that is career suicide. Charity certainly has to begin at home, but it should not certainly end there. Keep the speck off your eye so that you eliminate the log in the eyes of your superiors.

3. Develop a solid relationship with your leader by knowing him better and relating with them sincerely. The true starting point in getting to add value to your leader is building a relationship. People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Endeavor with all your knowledge to build a functional relationship with your leader. That is your starting point. When they know you care, they are willing to relate to you as a person including your proposal to help with their work. Without a relationship, they will actually consider it mockery when you ask to help with a part of their assignment.

4. Establish your leader’s strengths and commit to helping in consolidating them. Your number one assignment in leadership is to make your leader look good. Once you master that aspect, you will be rewarded greatly. The most important thing is knowing your superior’s strengths and seeing how to help amplify them to the maximum effect. Strengths are much more important than weaknesses.

5. It is equally important to know your leader’s weaknesses so that you diplomatically get a game plan to close the gap. We all have weaknesses. Your leader included; we all have shortcomings. Your role is never to eliminate the weaknesses but to mitigate them. If you do that for your leader you will be his favorite subordinate and remember it comes with benefits.

6. Always treat your leader with honor, remember your job is to make your leader look good. Then the organization will look good. In order to honor your leader, you should know your leader’s main north. I am talking about his value system. If you know the value system of your leader, you will uphold them and become a favourite with the boss. There is nothing wrong with being a favourite. It comes along with a lot of perks too. Whatever you honour will produce honour for you.

7. Learn to communicate with wisdom and clarity. Communicate to be heard and to go forward. Never waste your time to try and prove that you know better than your boss. The only place you are better than your boss is in the toilet. Everywhere else they are in charge. That is why they sign your pay cheque. Every time you open your mouth let sense resonate throughout your words.

8. Be humble and keep an open mind. Sometimes your superior May shoot your good ideas down and crush your ego. It’s ok he has the right to say no or yes. You would have done your part in offering your support. He may suspect you of ulterior motives but do it anyway. Time is a great clarifier.

9. Be patient and keep a positive attitude no matter the circumstances. The boss may annoy you, but you do well to remember they are the boss. The key thing is to keep the main thing the main thing and remain positive that each dog has its day.

10. Pray for your leader and your organization. You will love them more. It will be difficult for you to criticize what you pray for. The reason you gossip about your boss is that you don’t pray for them. Pray for your boss and see how wonderful that remedy works.

?Leave the rest to God, you would have done your best my friend. Keep your head high. Trust in God and love others.

May the winner in your bosom rise to conquer. Leaders grow daily. More grace and more focus. Jesus Christ is Lord.?
