Month 3 of 2022 has begun. How strong are your New Year Goals now? Many would have kept goals of losing weight, changing jobs, running that marathon, expressing your passion etc. Are they still strong goals? Have you started manifesting your goals. Its 60 days now.
If you are at it, then congrats! If you are not, read on.
In my first newsletter, I had shared the three secrets of achieving your goals and not just having them as your dreams. So why do these goals not materialize?
The most common reasons people have shared with me
"I do not have time." "My intentions are genuine, but I didn't find the right coach from whom I could learn." "I joined the gym, but the lockdown happened again, so I could not continue." taxis didn't come, the bus was not there, it was too hot, it was too cold... so on and so forth...
I think at the end of the 2 months of 2022, we know that none of these reasons are real. One of the main reasons is that often we just feel responsible but are not accountable for our actions.
So what is the difference between Responsibility and Accountability?
To explain this I would take the simplest example of being a parent. A parent is responsible when he/she takes the child to the doctor and gets medicines, when the child is sick, provides financial support for the education.
While accountability is when the parent ensures that the child takes the medicines and follows instructions to get better. Accountability is when the parent ensures that the child is educated well and is working towards an outcome.
Responsibility is partial ownership, Accountability is full ownership
This is also one of the primary differences between a Manager Mindset and a Leader Mindset. Managers feel responsible for a job while Leaders are Accountable.
If as a Leader, you feel that your job is completed by passing instructions to people?and the outcome is based on whether they are performing or not, then you just exhibited responsibility.?
But If as a Leader, you take ownership of the situation and the people towards the desired outcome then your Accountability is high.
As a solopreneur, who can I feel accountable to? Apart from myself, it's my readers, followers, it's you. I am sharing my journey so far in 2022

28 Management Tips : There Is a Better Way to Do Everyday Work Situations
2 年It took me sometime to understand this - after watching many of Bob Proctor's videos --------------------- We all have achieved goals at some time - for some, it was getting a scholarship, for some it was doing CA, for some getting into IIM, for some it was to get a specific job. So how did that happen? If one is not achieving the next goal, then one needs to think and compare - Why was I able to achieve X, but am not able to achieve Y? The clue is there. Some of the things you will find : 1. Y is not something you really want, or at this moment 2. You really don't believe you can achieve Y 3. You are trying to achieve Y for extrinsic purpose, not intrinsic 4. You are not investing the required - the time, money, effort, learning (including getting mentoring and coaching), etc Only when the conscious (thinking) and the subsconcious (emotional) mind are in agreement - you will find yourself happily progressing towards the goal. That means automatically doing all the steps that Radhika Balakrishnan , Career Transformation Expert mentions in this, and the earlier newsletter.

2 年Truly agree to this Radhika, Being accountable is like taking Ownership of it be it personal or professional, being responsible is like delegating it, So it's every important to take the ownership and keeping the control rather than just delegating and facing the consequences ??
