Leadership and Self-Deception

Sometimes, we get into the box out of ignorance. We find ourselves living in self-deception even when we didn’t plan for it. We tend to see the fault in others, using it to justify our shortcomings. By recognizing and crafting a specific strategy to reduce self-betrayal, both individuals and leaders at various levels can step out of the box.
In the workplace, our focus should be on the tasks at hand and the goals we need to achieve. This requires us to harness our full potential. However, in both professional and personal settings, our egos often take precedence over what truly matters. Instead of striving to do our best, we may find ourselves consumed by the desire to be the best, leading to unhealthy competition and a lack of collaboration.
Our policy must involve an accountability transformation system. A system that lessens self-betrayal in the workplace while enhancing the company’s profitability can significantly diminish typical organizational and interpersonal issues. Those fixated on self-justification won't escape self-deception or break free from the box.
The prevalent culture of assigning blame to individuals and organizations should shift to one of profound accountability, enabling us to escape the box effectively.

Imagine a workplace situation where you and your team are tasked to increase sales of your company's product. You are not the only salesperson on the team. Depending on the results each of you shows, your CEO will offer a pay rise. What would you do in a situation like this? Would you put your energies into collaborating for the benefit of the company? Are you the kind of person who would do anything to drown your colleagues — now competitors?
If you are leaning toward saying “yes” to the last question, do this to keep you out of the box:
? Try to be better for yourself and not compare yourself to others
? Do not look for the fault in others; look for your own
? Avoid pointing fingers at others for being in the box
? Look for ways you can do right to help
? If you discover you are in the box, don’t give up on yourself. Keep trying to get out
