Be a Leader of People.
‘Leaders love people, managers love data!’
Employee engagement is a hot topic. In times of low unemployment and an ongoing search for talented staff, management begins to value their own employees. They want to know how their staff feels about their work and if they are still motivated. Human resource managers start an employee engagement survey asking 4 key questions:
- Do you feel free to say what you think and do you feel free to give your opinion?
- Do you think your company uses all your talents?
- Do you want to leave the company any time soo?
- Do you recommend your family and friends to work for this company?
The data are collected and the results are published. Meetings are scheduled and plans are made but in the end nothing changes...for the employees.
When real leaders ask their people about engagement they ask completely different things. True leaders ask their professional staff
- To get the job done.
- To really help people.
- To learn from mistakes and failures.
- To share what they learn with everyone.
‘Real leaders help their people to help people!’
Great leaders make you proud at the work you do. When you go home you feel fulfilled and happy. Making a difference in your life and in the life of others.
