It’s no coincidence that most leaders have well developed networks. The attributes of sound leadership and productive networking are closely aligned. One advantage of taking a leadership position is that it gives you a built-in reason to connect with people.

If you desire leadership but fear the required commitment and exposure, you can ‘have your cake and eat it too.’ Behind-the-scenes roles, such as serving as a lesser officer or heading up a committee, can give you the exposure of leadership without completely immersing you in responsibility.
