‘Stop Crime Against Retailers’ Campaign Calls For Immediate Government Action
A new campaign – entitled ‘Stop Crime Against Retailers’ – is calling for immediate government action to combat the alarming rise in crime facing retailers nationwide.
The campaign was launched at an event today at Fallon & Byrne in Dublin, spearheaded by ShelfLife in partnership with the Convenience Stores and Newsagents Association (CSNA).
It highlighted the urgent need for stronger legislative protections and enhanced Garda response times as criminal activity continues to cripple the retail sector.
A recent ShelfLife survey revealed that 100% of retailer respondents have experienced criminal activity in the past year, ranging from shoplifting to violent robbery, as well as intimidation.
The findings also indicate that some 89% of retailers feel these crimes are becoming more dangerous, underscoring the escalating risks to both businesses and staff.

Heineken Quarterly Revenue Slightly Ahead Of Forecasts
Dutch brewer Heineken’s third-quarter sales figures beat forecasts on Wednesday, buoyed by non-alcoholic beers, but full-year guidance was unchanged.
The world’s second-largest brewer reported a 3.3% rise in organic net revenue year-on-year, just beating analyst expectations of 3.2% growth.
Heineken had disappointed investors earlier in the year with weaker than expected half-year figures and underwhelming full-year guidance.
The company said its namesake brand – which it prices higher than others in its portfolio – drove growth with volumes up 8.7% globally.
In Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, the increases were in double digits.
Non-alcoholic beer and cider also grew 11%.
