To Lead with Intention, First Define Your Values
It’s always important to define your values and figure out what's important to you in life.
If you have no clear idea of what you’re good at and what’s important to you, how would you be able to focus your time and energy to achieve your goals?
Where energy goes, attention flows.
It's important to figure out what is good for yourself because everybody has different goals. Ask yourself these questions:
What is important to me?
What are my interests & passion?
What do I hope to achieve?
What are my goals?
By reflecting on myself, my passions, and my aspirations both professionally and personally, I have been able to reach so many of my inner and outer life goals, such as my outer goals:
- Attending my dream University (of Toronto)
- Landing my dream job (LVMH)
- Having a dream wedding, then family, and 2 wonderful children
- Starting my own company, working with world-class brands and a super high achieving and inspired team
- The list goes on and on ...
My inner goals include:
- Living a peaceful, happy, mindful, joyous and inspired life
- Having the privilege of guiding my children to be mindful and loving on their journeys of discovery
- Being a force for change, cooperation, equality, mentorship, and innovation in the world
- Living each day with gratitude and humility
- Appreciating the beauty, potential, and wonderous nature of people and all living things on the planet
Always make time for self-reflection. Practice awareness and mindfulness, notice your conscious or unconscious thoughts. This will better help you to understand who you are, and help lead you on the path to happiness and success.
The reason I have achieved so many of my life goals is that I first defined who I was, and what was important to me to ultimately understand that my values are:
- To always act with integrity,
- Compassion,
- Excellence,
- Have a growth mindset,
- A community-mind and
- A global outlook
Then, with my values in mind, I pursued whatever it was I was after.
We have a limited amount of energy to expend each day, anything that did not resonate with my values fell to the curb.
Because this worked for me, I encourage you all to try this; define your values ... and see if you hit your mark.

4 å¹´Thanks Margaret Yeung, very good suggestions. I guess there is always a point in life that you suddenly feel confused and lose sight of what is key and what is not. Practicing mindfulness is key to remove distractions.
