Lead From Where You Are? Part Two

This is one of my favorite pictures of my daughter and me (she’s taller than me now)! This point in my life was very full. I recall juggling school drops off at two different schools, demanding career, kids activities, exploring my new town (LA), which was a ton of fun!
On this day, I wanted Lauren to see Mommy in action! She attended my team meetings in large conference rooms, made copies, took notes, and we had lunch outdoors on the patio. I think she also sold a ton of girl scout cookies!
However, what stands out to me most is how my team and coworkers welcomed her. She knew many of their names because of all the “calls” I was always on! And they definitely knew her because of how much I had interwoven my professional and personal life. They witnessed firsthand my balancing act as a woman leader, and eventually, I felt comfortable sharing what it took to seemingly 'do it all'.
When it comes to building and leading teams, Leading From Where You Are? means the following to me - let me know what you think!
Show Heart - This was a HUGE area of growth for me, but was so worth it! Show your care for those around you, be vulnerable, show more of yourself (thinking and feeling, not just doing).
Triple P Vision - Produce a clear, compelling team vision, Proclaim it (constantly and consistently), and Progress on it by measuring, monitoring, and adapting as needed. It is a living breathing thing, not meant to just sit on paper.
Fuel Your Team - This is multi-faceted. It includes having a clear management approach so your team knows what they can count on from you. Importantly, it is also about creating a positive, connected, and high performing team culture. One where you can celebrate the wins and learn from the lessons.
Create Safe, yet Bold Spaces - So important to create a space of safety for your team. How do respond (in action) to failure? Do you “warmly” and openly invite dissent? How do you build a diverse team in both identity and thinking - where everyone feels they belong?
Pour Into Others - There is always an opportunity to share your resources, thinking, attention, and lessons along the way - no matter your level, but especially as you rise.
