Lead-free to preserve the environment
For people involved in aviation and still don't know that we are using more and more electronic parts which are lead-free. The major step in avionics shops is the transition to lead-free soldering. It will take some time to become a fully 100% lead-free shop because all older type of aircraft is still using old lead technology and we need to maintain it. But the new generation of aircraft like 787 and A350 are already equipped with a lot of lead-free components. To make your life easy, dear aerospace people, we developed ARINC A671 standard: Guidance for the transition to lead-free soldering, maintenance, and repair. There is no modern avionics shop that can manage to operate without the introduction of the process described in that famous A671. It provides:
???????Technical requirements
???????Training and qualification requirements
???????Quality management requirements
This standard is especially important for all of you flying 787 and A350 and maintaining that new generation of components. In those new birds, a lot of lead-free stuff is introduced. If you want to be current, download the standard from the ARINC IA site. https://www.aviation-ia.com/.
Because it touches a process, we should honorably mention SAE Aerospace Standard AS7787 which speaks about how to qualify the personnel and process are involved in lead-free soldering.
