Lead by Example: Simon Kjaer's Way

We all talk about leadership at different books, seminar and places. And same time we real examples of Leadership in life. On 12 June 2021 Denmark and Finland were playing EURO 2020 (delayed for covid from last year). Middle of the game showed us an unfortunate moment when Denish player Eriksen collapsed by cardiac attacked. Game has been stopped imemdaitely and we observed one of best fairplay moment by players, officials and the expectators. We have seen shocked fans from gallery and praying players during the collapse, and on the other hand seen a man called Simon Kjear, the captain of Denmark football team how responded the crisis moment.

When Eriksen collapsed and fall down to ground Kjear was little away but rushed to Eriksen with an emergency in body language. That's how we learn a leader should have sense of urgency according to the merit of moments or incidents. It is a fantastic display of Kjear who has read the situation quickly. He took some quick steps without being panicked to respond the situaion rather just react! No he didnt just observed and fall emotional, rather kept his emotions controlled and did the first thing first. He rearranged the place of tongue of Eriksen and put the body in a safe position, cleared the airwaves so that Eriksent does not shallow his own tongue (happens during heart attack). He has given initial CPR to his team mate before Medical team arrives and later we got to know the reason of life saving was that (as per medical team). When the primary medical team came he didnt left his player, he was staying with his collapsed team mate. Later he also signaled the core medical team to come with carrier.

After a while, we have seen Medical team has arrived and he asked his team mates to remain as sheild while Medical team were taking their actions. Hence we have seen an example of maintining privacy from the thousands of TV camera and personal picture captures. He was standing there to see everything going proper way.

We have observed on TV screen the scared and crying face of Sabrina Kvist, spouse of Eriksen, moment later we have seen Kjear made Sabrina stable consoled her horrified soul and confirmed that team is with Eriksen. Hence we observed that leadership is not about being incharge rather taking care of team for whom we are in charge.

We observed medical team was taking Eriksen out from ground and Ericsen gained some conciousness while Team were united and giving cordon to him till ground leaving. A great leader gives a cause to become united! To become responsible.

The story is still unfinished. Captain reunited his team. Talked with officials, opposite team and brought the team again to the ground to finish the game. We have observed from Kjaer how to stay calm when the situation was full of stress, knew exactly what to do and how to remain still empathetic! Thus we hear leadership is not a position its a choice!

It's not about a game, it's not about taking merely some steps, leadership is about giving a greater purpose with self example!
