Lead By Example and Others Will Follow.

Lead By Example and Others Will Follow.

People must see you doing it before they can take the leap.

I’ve heard this a few times in the past week from different founders in the Founders Island community.

On the first occasion, I struggled to get replies from people and get them to engage with the group.

I went to Tom Moore with this issue, and he said very clearly:

“In all things, but especially with founders, they need to see you doing it first to trust that they can do it as well.”

Looking back at it, I see Tom do this all the time, and simply through the act of him doing things I think:

“He did it, so I must be able to do it as well.”

This psychological phenomenon extends from Roger Bannister, the first person to break the 4-minute mile, who opened the floodgates to millions of others achieving it, to asking my own favor in the Founders Island favors channel to get others to trust that they can do the same.

It’s the same action on a much smaller scale.

Show others they can do it by first doing it yourself.

Later in the week, I heard a similar thing from Avon Collis during his Founders Unmasked episode.

Avon was getting to the bottom of where his infectious energy came from, the answer being:?

Leading by example.

During his time in the Army, his team encountered heavy brush in Asia.

It was so heavy that the only way to get through was to throw yourself onto the brush to flatten it and move through.

For every soldier who did this, it was a bit easier for the next one to pass through.

His mission is to do this in entrepreneurship.

Clear the path so that others behind him can come through easier.

It starts with doing it so those that are coming know it can be done.

It’s a simple value and one that I intend to continue building in myself.

How?

Hey, I’m Ollie.

I'm on a journey to learn how to be a great founder.

Early this year I started a WhatsApp community for founders that helps them discover how to extract value from the value extractors by connecting them with others who are doing it and have done it before.

I intend on learning something from every person in our community.

Follow along to see what I learn from this community about being a founder and growing a business.

P.S. Reach out if you want to join the Founders Island WhatsApp community

Well said, Oliver Pollasky ???? Leading by example fosters trust and confidence in your team. It's inspiring to see founders like Tom and Avon champion this approach within the Founders Island community.

Leading by example. The art of the possible. And then sharing that you did it
