The Risk To Children
- 1,500 children are shot and killed each year. Many of these deaths are accidental.
- Gun violence is the second-leading cause of death among children overall and the first-leading cause of death among Black children.
- Black children are 10 times more likely to be killed in a gun homicide than White children.
Suicide
- There are more than 23,000 suicides in the US that involve firearms each year.
- When American children die by firearm suicide, over 80 percent use a gun belonging to a family member.
- In many cases, suicide attempts are impulsive responses to acute crises. 90% of people who survive suicide attempts do not go on to die by suicide.

Role
As Biofire’s Lead Embedded Hardware Engineer you will be responsible for our embedded hardware development efforts on high-reliability, safety critical products.
To succeed you will need to be
- Self-driven
- Obsessed with the details
- Comfortable operating in a multidisciplinary R&D environment
You will need to be able to architect an embedded hardware system at the highest levels while digging into the details as an individual contributor.
Day to day responsibilities of the role will include
- Hardware standards and process definition
- Architecture development
- Schematic and board layout implementation including component selection
- Management of internal and external hardware engineering resources
