At best right now, things are chaotic. At worst, devastating.
I was at a dinner the other night, and several people were very down and ready to throw in the towel on the things they care about, struggling to find any hope.
But we are at the beginning of the movie. If you love the Lion King, we are in the part where Scar is King. But that is only the beginning. We get to write the rest of the movie.
I asked a question, and it has stuck with me. We are one month into this new world. Seems early to give up. After all, how long did we harangue our parents to make our curfew later? I don’t know about you, but it was a lot more than a month for me.?
Sticking with it often requires a change in perspective. Toward optimism.
Before you roll your eyes, consider this:
Maybe the world is ending. But you aren’t sure. Do you curl up and wait? Or bet on the idea that maybe it’s not and, even if it is, maybe you can change it?
And what if the world is just fine but your fear says it’s going to get bad? Do you wait in fear or desolation to be proven right or wrong? Or do you recognize what’s going right and build on it?
I’m going to do my best to get out of that corner of fear. If I am right, it’s a much better life and if I’m wrong, at least I’ll make a bit of a difference and avoid some of the misery.
Does this resonate? How do you stay focused on the positive possibilities? What good happened last week? What are you doing to fill yourself up?
Reply and let me know.
