LDDI Welcomes Holly Casey Back to Campus

LDDI at Virginia Tech is pleased to announce the hiring of Holly Casey, PE, ENV SP , who joins the Virginia Tech faculty this fall as an Assistant Professor of Practice with a split appointment between Virginia Tech Civil and Environmental Engineering and Blackwood Department of Real Estate .?Holly’s hiring will have immediate impact on LDDI by expanding the number of course section offerings during the 2022-23 academic year.?

A 2017 Virginia Tech Civil Engineering alumna and licensed Professional Engineer, Holly joins the Virginia Tech faculty after a tenure with LDDI Platinum sponsor Kimley-Horn where she worked as a Civil Engineering Analyst in the firm’s Virginia Beach office.?During her time as a student, Holly completed three LDDI courses and was an active member of the Sustainable Land Development Club (SLDC) where she attended field trips, competed in the annual design charrette competition, and participated in various club service projects.?Holly also had the opportunity to serve as an undergraduate teaching assistant in LDDI’s junior-level course.?Reflecting on her time as a student in LDDI’s senior design course, Holly offers, “LDDI does an exceptional job bridging the gap between the classroom and industry. The coursework is relevant and provides directly applicable experience for a student seeking an internship or entry-level position.?In addition to the technical expertise that the LDDI suite of classes provides, the connections with industry professionals offers unmatched networking opportunities for career development.”

Holly will begin her teaching career this fall, working closely with LDDI Coordinator Kevin Young as each teaches a section of LDDI’s junior-level Introduction to Land Development course.?Of her instructional debut, Holly states, “I have always found satisfaction in teaching and mentoring others, and this role will give me the opportunity to provide students with the background and knowledge they need to find success in their future careers. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of LDDI and am excited to see how my involvement within the real estate program will provide for the interdisciplinary growth of both programs.”
