LCM expands metal making production to further enhance their expertise as a complementary supply chain alternative
LESS COMMON METALS LIMITED
A UK-based alloy manufacturer, specialising in rare earth elements.
LCM expands metal making production to dysprosium iron (DyFe) and terbium (Tb) to further enhance their expertise as a complementary supply chain alternative.
Less Common Metals, based in the UK, is one of a handful of companies in the Western world commercially producing the highly specialised strip cast alloys and HD powders needed to produce the highest-performance neodymium iron boron magnets.
With 30 years of continuous history in the rare earth industry, LCM is pleased to announce that the company is offering these alternative supply sources (DyFe and Tb) with the capability to meet increased independence for industry demand.
Since 2017 Less Common Metals (LCM) has been making neodymium (Nd) and neodymium praseodymium (NdPr) metal on their premises in the UK commercially at +120 tons per annum.
Now it is with great pleasure that LCM can announce from this month (April 2023) one electrolysis cell will purely be dedicated to the production of DyFe metal. Along with the introduction of dedicated furnaces for Tb metal production at a commercial scale.
Planned commercial scale volumes will be made available by Q4 2023, with sample material being made available in 5kg batches for testing and analysis by worldwide magnet makers, self-regulating OEMs, and other interested parties from July 2023 onwards.
Commercial scale volumes for DyFe metal are aimed to be supplied at approximately 60 tons per annum, and Tb metal volume at 25 tons per annum initially.
