LCEC April Event - London Net-work

LCEC April Event - London Net-work

For April's monthly event, we had the pleasure of hearing from Toni Riddiford and Nik Hoggarth from Stride Treglown. They presented the findings of their London Net-work research into the future of the office.

It's evident that most people now regularly work from home and are more than accustomed to meeting online, this is not changing post-pandemic. Employers are looking at their estates and having to decide how to adapt their offices to the changing ways of work. Toni and Nik identified different worker typologies, including:

  • live/work local
  • active commuter
  • international worker
  • digital nomad
  • business tourist.?

As well as different Office typologies: Flagship; Coffeehouse; Neighbourhood Showcase and Pitstop.

You can read more about the typologies here:

My Takeaways

1) The importance of the office as part of the employer's offering.

Whilst COVID-19 may well have accelerated these trends, offices are now an integral factor in an employee's decision to join and stay with their employer. Do you agree?

2) Jacob Morgan's Evolution of the Employee

I was particularly interested in the image of the evolution of the employee and I can see I will be incorporating this into my lectures. Proving the point "it’s not knowledge that is the most important but the employee’s ability to learn new things and apply those learnings to new situations and scenarios that come up". I particularly related to the point that everyone is both a teacher and a student. We should never stop learning.

3) The increasing relevance of ESG

My final takeaway is the number of times ESG was mentioned by Toni and Nik as a driver for employers to consider the societal and environmental factors in their decision making. So it is pertinent that our next monthly event is on ESG.?Look out for more information shortly:
