LBAN Alumni Summit Summary: Fireside Chat with Ruben Barrales from Wells Fargo - Premier & longest Sponsor of LBAN!

I could not make it to SOLE or the LBAN Gala this year. I had another event to host in SF with the GGBA and the HCC of SF to celebrate Women’s History Month!

I was invited to the alumni summit by Jennifer Garcia. I am not an alumni of LBAN but I have believed in their mission since I became acquainted with the program. I have always recommended potential candidates.?

Arturo Cazares started the summit by reminding us to think about what we can do for others when we enter #Latino spaces. It is not always about getting something but about what we can contribute.?

He also shared how with social media now it is so easy only to share our successes, and how rarely we share our challenges.?

Jennifer Garcia talked about how LBAN is focusing on access and how else we can get more access.?

She had a fire chat with Ruben Barrales from 富国银行 .?

He told part of his story. His dad had a roofing company and his mom used to work at a candy store. Years later she opened a cafe in Redwood City. He would often work on the roofs with his dad, clean tables, and wash dishes with his mom. He learned early on how hard this work was.?

He believes they were self-employed rather than business people. They had built businesses but once they closed these businesses they were done.?

He believes that LBAN is creating a movement and that it has built something incredible. LBAN is creating legacies and generational wealth. Ruben joined Wells Fargo to help rebuild its reputation, building risk and control. He believes that Wells Fargo wants to see Latinos succeed in business.?

He thinks that LBAN has positioned itself in history. LBAN will be seen as a place in the history of Latino businesses and entrepreneurs. Ruben sees LBAN as abundance creators. One of Wells Fargo’s goals is to help Latino-owned businesses to build generational wealth.?

Jennifer & Ruben discussed current DEI efforts and concerns. He believes that DEI has to be sustainable and that organizations must do more than create and give out grants. He thinks DEI is also good for business.?

He announced that Wells Fargo will be sponsoring a new web series to help LBAN with any issues concerning growing a business. We look forward to that content!?

His final feedback was to tell the whole room that entrepreneurship is the best of people in any room. To keep pushing through, to keep working hard. He knows Wells Fargo wants to help people and to see them succeed.?

Wells Fargo is the premier & longest Sponsor of LBAN!
