lazy days

lazy days

This year, I celebrated the 4th of July in a way I never have before–I was lazy AF.

I woke up early to hit a morning yoga session, went hung out with Ang and the boys a bit, and then we caught an early afternoon showing of Despicable Me 4. After the movie was over, we dropped Leo off at a friend’s house and then watched Roman hop in a golf cart to head to his friend’s house, leaving just Ang, Silas and me for the rest of the day.

I proceeded to lounge around on the couch watching Captain America and then an Avengers movie. I may or may not have drifted in and out of short naps for most of the afternoon. There were times when I thought I should get up and go do some writing or editing or play with Silas, but he was playing with the neighbor. There really was nothing I had to do, so I did just that–nothing.

And it was amazing.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to spend every afternoon lounging on the couch, but for the afternoon of July 4th, 2024 it was the right thing for me to do.

From time to time, take some time to truly do nothing—I promise everything will be okay and the world will continue to spin and stay in orbit. Your version of doing nothing may look different than mine (and my next lazy day may look different than this one), but don’t feel bad about having a lazy day from time to time.

I woke up July 5th feeling recharged and energized–lazy days may be more necessary than we realize and just what we need.

See you tomorrow (or later today) and keep pursuing,

JC
