Laying the groundwork for motivation

- Write 'ME FACT TABLE'

Where can we get motivation?

Here is the long story, why I wrote this post. I am a brand manager for a company in London. I was helping with Christmas decorations, however, my colleague and the ladder fell on my foot. So, I was unable to walk.

I didn’t cry.

Because it was the winter season, I was busy then I worked from home even I got injured while worrying about my career. Suddenly I started to feel skeptical about my life. I came from Korea to the UK because I wanted to experience professional career. However, I had no idea that I would get hurt like this, and I was afraid of my performance.

I am a positive person by nature, but as I lay quietly alone at home. What is this feeling I feel?I started looking for posters. Is there anyone like me who are afraid of the Achievement society?

Google is known as a company that puts a lot of stress on its performance system. Because everyone has great experience and work and evaluation. In it, EK, the lead designer, was sharing the same experience as me. I found her through YouTube’s algorithm with the search term ‘how to get motivated.’

EK, Google lead designer:

She was feeling slumped, fearful of performance, and anxious about not knowing what she wanted to do. She suffered from severe depression. However, she felt like I had to do something, so she started thinking.

She started creating a Me Fact Table. She wrote facts about herself — my strengths, weaknesses, and strategies. So, she tells us.

“Let’s not forget who we are.”

The chart organizes facts that can help you be Fact(objective), your strengths, weaknesses, and strategies to complement your weaknesses.

Now, back to my story. Why live, why work, why do? I started writing my fact table. What situation am I in now, what is the problem — how can I solve it?

I wrote it honestly. Me fact table from EK.

I was motivated by this table.

  1. Knowing what I’m good at gives me confidence and self-esteem. Doing it better than others!
  2. When I find out what I’m not good at, I’m disappointed at first, but that’s okay. Because I know, I will do anything.
  3. 3. If I know what my strategy is, you can find solutions to compensate for your shortcomings. So I should do???

As I wrote this table, my needs became clear. Since I was the only member of the marketing team, I consulted with the director. Ask them to hire more team members. My company hired a new colleague last week, and now I’m learning how to teach the junior! I’m growing!

After writing this article, I bought crutches and started walking.

Now, I can walk! ??????

I am strongMaking this attempt itself is the beginning, and I believe this is motivation. I think creating this table is a way to gain motivation through self-objectification.

I hope that you too can create your own Me fact table containing your own Facts, Advantages, Disadvantages, and Strategies. I won’t share the template. I think the process of making itself is motivation.??

If you need advice on how to use this fact table or what content to include, please leave a comment at any time. I can also have coffee chat. I would like to share mine and your experience.

I will write down one thing for you who may meet again in the future.

“Let’s not forget who we are.”

Thank you.
