Layers // December 2024

Welcome to Layers; the newsletter from Licel that shares the latest insights and developments about mobile channel security.

Here's what's coming up in this edition:?

  • An update on our virtual TEE's dual-platform evaluation and approval from EMVCo?
  • What is a Trusted Application??
  • How mobile malware spreads across an entire country (and how to stop it)
  • A look back on the key security trends of the year and what to look out for in 2025

The only TEE of any kind currently evaluated and approved by EMVCo.

Licel's groundbreaking Virtual Trusted Execution Environment has now been evaluated and approved by EMVCo for both Android and iOS.

The Licel vTEE is already helping to make digital transactions and operations much more simple, seamless, and secure. Innovative mobile payment and SoftPOS solutions are using it to run Trusted Applications in an isolated and secure execution environment.?

This dual-platform approval means that developers can now confidently use Trusted Applications for Android and iOS. The vTEE is a peace-of-mind enabler that allows them to get on with creating and enhancing innovative solutions without worrying about security.

Getting our vTEE evaluated and approved for both Android and iOS in less than a year is a special achievement. I'm excited about the ways it can help to enable growth for innovative applications in the future. ?

Our latest article is a deep dive into these concepts. We also explain why Trusted Applications are set to be so important in the future of mobile channel security.

We recently took data from our own threat intelligence solution, Alice, to explore one specific form of malware to see how it spread across India. You can read about it (and find out how to stop malware like this) in the article below.
