Layers // December 2023
?? Season's Greetings
Welcome to the final edition of the Layers newsletter for 2023.
It's been an exciting time for the company since the first edition of Layers was published here on LinkedIn in August. In the last few days we've been doing a lot of reflecting and have also spent time looking forward to 2024.
We're incredibly excited about our plans for next year and we're looking forward to sharing them with you in upcoming editions of Layers.
But for now we wish you all the very best for this holiday season and hope that you have a very happy (and secure) new year!
As is customary, our CEO, Ivan Kinash , has decided to bring in the new year with some predictions for his top mobile security trends for the year ahead. ??
?? 2024 mobile security trends
It's vital to keep on top of how technological trends are impacting the mobile threat landscape.
In our 2024 mobile security trends article, we take a look at three specific areas that we believe will have a big impact on mobile security next year.
We explore each of them via the thread of end user trust and how important that is for brand reputation.
??New Year. New DexProtector
Because the threat landscape is constantly evolving, we know that we need to stay ahead of the game.
That's why we'll be releasing a new and improved version of DexProtector in early 2024. Key improvements relate especially to anti-dynamic instrumentation, anti-tampering and anti-emulator mechanisms.
The new DexProtector Core will form part of DexProtector Enterprise 14.1. As part of this?release we'll also be sharing refreshed and expanded Security Guidance for DexProtector licensees. This will touch?on configuration and security more generally, incorporating a lot of the lessons we've learned over the last year during security reviews, interactions with security researchers, and feedback from DexProtector users.
Keep an eye out for more updates about the new and improved version of DexProtector in the new year.??

?? AI and social engineering
It was already tricky sometimes to ascertain fact from fiction before AI arrived on the scene to blur the lines still further.
Its arrival has the potential to make social engineering scams much more convincing and much easier to scale.
In the coming months and years we'll have to deal with to a landscape where AI is being used to write believable communications to unsuspecting customers and is even impersonating loved ones.
Frightening as these scenarios sound, there are things all of us can do to protect ourselves.
