Lawtech Now, Next and Beyond
What is the ‘New Lawyer’ post-pandemic and the positive impact on the legal environment - where do we go from here?’
The ‘new’ new normal has struck and there is no denying that the global pandemic has created a necessary change, even for those reluctant to adapt to change, including the legal industry. Clients, in-house counsel and law firms are rapidly adapting at scale to new ways of working and the reality is that the practice of law will never be the same on the other side of this crisis. The blockers or resistors of change have been silenced in only a matter of weeks. It is now a great time to reflect on the acceleration of recovery and the importance of not slipping back to old habits.
The new agile workforce has emerged and has had to ‘unlearn’ old strategies and adapt to a savvier new version.
The Lawtech Summit in 2020 will be celebrating its fifteenth year and it is with reverent honour that we present a conference programme that incorporates the transformation revolution that technology has brought to the legal sector. It will focus on the critical themes that have arisen from the new way of working post-pandemic and delve into emergent areas of significance.
The 2020 Lawtech theme focuses on the now, next and beyond of legal technology and will include topics that have surfaced during this peculiar year. Areas such as adaption to change; the importance of sustainability; wellbeing; technology deployment cycle and user experience; scenario planning and risk management. It will also include the importance of cybersecurity and the new challenges faced by a flexible workplace. The new technologies that are changing the way law firms are working with clients is another important topic and how the courts are also transforming to keep up with the change. The programme will be focusing on the positive implications of the pandemic and how we have become champions of embracing change to our best abilities - even though it was forced upon us.
The Lawtech Summit is the trailblazer event for legal technology in Australia and NZ, delivering an innovative annual programme since 2006. This year we are holding our 15th event at the beautiful Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort at the Gold Coast in September and we look forward to being able to come together over two days of learning and networking, as I am sure we all are.
