The Law of the Wall

The Law of the Wall

A heuristic (and pictorial) treatment of one of the best-known and widely-used concepts from the classical theory of turbulence - the Law of the Wall.

Besides its enormous descriptive power of the (fully developed - self similar) turbulent boundary the law of the wall may serve during CFD analysis for prior estimation of grid requirement for RANS/LES turbulence modeling assessment.

Hi?Sijal A..?I will not elaborate exhaustively (as this is a checkbox) but Fluent uses a different base for wall units, y* rather than y+. You may refer to its definition at: https://cfdisraelblog.wordpress.com/2018/04/15/turbulence-modeling-near-wall-treatment-in-ansys-fluent/ Both quantities (y* and y+) are approximately equal in?equilibrium turbulent boundary layers.

At intersection of both profiles, value of Y+ is 11.225 by Fluent and 11.06 by CFX. Why they have different values, if it is an empirical correlation??
