You know I always get a question from all my colleagues/friends, that what exactly is this law of marketing, and why I always say that the law must rule the world. I am here to break the ice today and help you understand,
What is the law of marketing?
And, why is it essential for all the marketers to remember it?
Let us understand it step by step. Read it till the end, so that you are comfortable with the law, and you can start using the law.
Law of Marketing
First of all, I would love to thank one of my marketing gurus, Digital Deepak, for helping me understand this concept. I am also thankful to him since he gave me a perfect direction for reaching my financial goals in the stipulated timelines I have kept for myself.
You know we, including me, had a wrong thought process that marketing starts after a product is created. But I was wrong. Marketing begins before the product is created. You must understand your target customers, your customers' needs before you design and develop your product. You must know whether the product you are creating is going to serve your customers or not!
We think that we can do marketing at any point in time, and our product will be accepted. No, No, No!
We have created our understanding of marketing as,
"Write catchy captions, write a few markety lines, and customers will purchase it!"
No, No, No!
We feel that all the people reading our blog, going through our social media channel, or checking our poster online/offline will purchase our product.
No, No, No!
I have already said before that we need to find the right target customers before creating our product. Also, we need to market our product with the right content and at the right time. Else, you might end up losing money, time, and essential product idea.
All of us, including me, who are in the marketing field, count ourself successful, once we sell a product to our customer. I agree that selling is also a part of marketing and building a product. But, retaining the customer's confidence in our product is equally important as far as marketing and product development are concerned. Taking reviews regarding your product and services from your clients holds a significant value while marketing your product. Not just reviews will work, but implementing the right amount of changes at the right time carries an equal value while selling your product.
As marketers or entrepreneurs, we tend to forget the value of the product and start treating marketing as an essential aspect of product development. I accept that marketing is essential. But, remember, your product carries more value than marketing. How good is your product, how well it fulfills the customer's needs, and how well it is rooted with your fundamental aim of creating the product, all these questions must be regularly answered along with the marketing running on the second hand!
If at all you pass out/succeed in following these laws of marketing, I am sure that your product holds a value to the customers and your product will sell itself. I know marketing is essential, but marketing will be used just as an announcement instead of building a brand. The best examples for it are Adidas, Nike, Puma, etc. These all brands never market intending to create their audience, but these brands market to create awareness about their new products or offers.
I know you all have questions regarding branding, too, like how these laws can help you create your personal brand. Instead of thinking about how these laws help, let me tell you how I interpreted these laws to start building my personal brand. Remember, marketing is not the only thing to create your personal brand.
How to create your personal brand?
First, I started finding all my competitors in the market. Listed them along with the various tactics that they use while creating their personal brand.
Then I started finding the unique things that I might have in my personal brand that others don't have. Once I listed those unique things, I started working on it, day and night.
Remember, Rome was not built in a day.
I remember Deepak's quote while helping me understand these laws that do not run to be #1 in the market. But, be the only one. This quote remained stuck to my mind, and the only reason I started running behind the uniqueness, instead of running behind the label of becoming #1.
Also, I have never treated marketing as the 'Karta Dharta' of my personal brand. I have always treated marketing as a channel to create a brand. It can help us, but it can never be wholesome of what we do to create a brand.
Since I am talking about marketing, I would like to give you a few marketing tips. I have implemented several of these tips while building my personal brand.

1) Communication skills
When I say communication skills, it does not mean our vocabulary. It indicates how well we can convey our message to our target audience. For uploading the mistake-free content, we have tools like Grammarly, but there is no single tool that can help us convey the right message. So remember, good marketing is all about excellent communication with our target audience.
If you want to master your communication, try writing as much as you can! It will improve your grammar and vocabulary, but it will also help you to master your communication skills.
2) Never limit yourself to a single source of marketing
I have seen that several companies restrict themselves to traditional marketing, and never enter the digital phase of marketing. I want to suggest that digital marketing is equally important. The approach is essential!
3) The CATT Marketing Funnel & Framework
You might have got the formula of wealth from the graphic.
n - Niche
C - Content
A - Attention
T - Trust
T - Transaction
Find the right niche to circulate the right content paying attention to the right target audience to build trust and sell the product/services. You must realize that selling comes at the end, and building your brand comes at the start.
There are several other things that you need to concentrate on along with these laws, communication skills, and so on. It includes how you can encash the importance of Integrated Digital Marketing and MassTrust blueprint. You can go ahead and register for the internship program offered by Digital Deepak to understand these concepts properly. Batch 5 is starting soon.
I hope that this small informative article will help you to at least start thinking about how to create your brand using the laws of marketing.
