The Iron Carrot team took a two-week break over Christmas and New Year's, and everyone came back refreshed and ready to help our amazing clients do more with their data by adopting and evolving their data governance capabilities.
January is a great time to think. The weather is too miserable to be outdoors too much (I was at the wrong end of the country when Storm Eoghan hit). I used my indoor time to reflect on key themes in law firm data over 2024 and what that would mean for 2025. The team has been working on developing a new training curriculum. More details about that are coming soon.
Whether you’re at the beginning of a new business year or pushing to get to the end of a financial year, I hope your data governance and taxonomy plans are going as well as you hoped.

What did we learn about law firm data in 2024?
Data continued to be the focus of law firm thinking through 2024. Many people found it surprising that some people didn’t realise that they were considering data opportunities or had data concerns because they were hyper-focussed on specific challenges that they needed to solve for their firm. Much of the conversation was about topics that (when you dig deeper) have data and data governance at their heart.
