Laura Elizabeth Quelch Monthly Recap - August 2024
Laura Elizabeth Quelch
? Hypnotherapist in Training ? Mentor & Multifaceted Magical Marketer ? Marketing Mage, lqd ? ??
It's time for Summer! I had some special time off this month. It's so important to book time off. I also have some time off in October which I made sure to book at the same time!
I'm one of those people that if it's not in the calendar it's not happening, and I was taught I had to give more than enough time warning to others to even be allowed to take time off...
I've been working on that, and one of the ways I do that is to make the decision, book it, then get informing. Not asking, informing. Plenty of notice, plenty of preparation. There is no excuse.
How do you make sure you take rest for yourself? If you find you struggle to gift yourself this, send me a message, I'll help you ??
Great news, the Digital Finance Function Awards photos are in! Thanks again to GENCFO Community and Purchase to Pay Network for such a fun night and great opportunity.
It was an honour to represent PPN and support Ellen Leith in her nomination. It was also super lovely to spend time with Helen Everest and get to know this wonderful community.
I took Little Susan with me, but she was camera shy?! ??
LinkedIn Tips
Notification problems or not, it's best practice to make sure you tag people (not just any random person though ??). Is one of your goals to raise engagement on your posts? Think about what and who is related to your content. And, how they would benefit themselves from being tagged in your content >>> BRAND AWARENESS.
Notice, I also said what, because you can tag companies too! For example, I can tag my company page right here >>> lauraquelchdesigns
Tagging gives a shoutout to that person, and says "Hey, I think this person/company is neat, and that you should check them out" which people can easily do, since your tagging has created a nice and easy link for them.
This builds partnerships - people appreciate the sentiment and repay you in kind. Thus, encouraging engagement, boosting visibility and creating a great space for connection.
How do you find and maintain inspiration?

Giving Back
Susan Walsh and I made it for our Marketing Day!! We discussed all things The Classification Guru Ltd (of course), as well as strategy for the Samification launch and Little Susan fun!
It will have been TWO YEARS this December since I took a leap of faith and DMed this icon with "Do you need any marketing help?" ????
This is one of the moments I think of when I tell people to just GO FOR IT! You never know where you might end up if you try.
Diversity Role Models CAMPAIGN - The time is now. I'm incredibly proud of this partnership, and I plan to do more speaking like it, so why not talk about it? ??
Build your support network, find your tribe, live a great life
Recommendations
I had the pleasure of reading a great blog by Kristin Boyles this month. She is brave and authentic, not afraid to speak her truth and share stories of learnings with others. If you're looking for a great copywriter, I highly recommend her.

I am enjoying growing my network in Norwich. I raised the bar this month, by attending an event hosted by Rebecca Campbell and Future of Women in Business Network .
Aimee Konieczny ?? shared with us some great life lessons in her inspiring story of growth, leadership and resilience.
Here are my key takeaways (embellished with my own thoughts):
? Many of us are thrust into leadership positions without the proper training to go with it. And, to make matters worse, mistakes are not tolerated, you are expected to be perfect. Many companies still view employees as only numbers on a spreadsheet. It's time to get grounded in Human Empathy. Care about people on a personal level. True leaders take risks and demonstrate vulnerability.
? Healing takes time - your traumatic experience may have been years ago now, but the scars can still be found. Make sure to develop yourself, and make a conscious effort to do what's best for you. Not what other people tell you to do with your life.
? Sometimes the person holding you back is you.
? Positively challenge growth in discomfort (Yass!)
?? Why give space to people who resent your success? ??
? My question: How do you interact with people who don't have your best interests at heart?
Outweigh negativity with positivity "Thank you, but I didn't ask your opinion." Remain strong in your boundaries.
? Book suggestion: Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson. Before even reading this book, I know I am 100% Green! ????
And, thanks to this event, I got to catch up with Jordan Domin-Goddard and get to know Antonia Bartels, ICF ACC and Ebony Atkins . Amazing people!
P.S I really need to get a new phone, I did Aimee dirty with these blurry AF photos! I didn't think to take too many photos myself. I guess I've been spoilt attending events where there is a photographer there! Also, does anyone else take photos of their car when they park it? ??
I've ticked off on my list another place to check out in Norwich: the newly opened Business Hub. Thanks to Grace Appleby for posting about it!
Thank you to Catherine McAndrew , Ben Field , Bianca Mortimer and Nova Fairbank for the chat and for helping me learn more about the opportunities in Norwich!
Check them out:
I also learnt about Mentor Mondays. I'm excited to have my first Mentor Monday with Denise Markham Wroe !
If you're in the Norwich area, and like me, fancy getting out the house more, this is a great place to get some work done, and connect with likeminded folks.
Funny story with the photo below, my hand slipped just as I went to take the photo! It was good timing though, as then Nova Fairbank was able to join us too ??
Another fabulous person you ought to know: Tamara Jacobs . She is The Creative Strategist. She will bridge the gap between your expertise and your audience's needs crafting stories that connect with them more authentically. We love an authentic person doing their best work!
